...is the price tag. It will not attract too many young riders of the new generation. Sure many young people like to go green, save the environment, etc., but many also don't have the financial resource to get a 30k bike:

Harley struggles to fire up new generation of riders with electric bike debut

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Harley-Davidson Inc is betting on electric motorcycles to attract the next generation of younger and more environmentall y conscious riders to reverse declining U.S. sales.

But as Harley ships its first "LiveWire" bikes - priced at $29,799 - to dealers, there is little evidence the 116-year-old brand is catching on with new young customers.

The problem lies mostly with this "super-premium" product's price. The bike costs nearly as much as a Tesla Model 3, and aims for a market that does not really exist: young, "green" and affluent first-time motorcyclists.

should get cheap chinese parts to drop the prices down.  Like a 10K bike to get them riding and hooked.  Eventually, like any thing in sports, once you are settling in and you may want to upgrade, believe me, you will get that upgrade.

They have some Chinese parts on their bikes and they made some smaller bikes over the years to attract young new riders but the design is just not appealing to the new generation on average. Currently they have one that starts around 7k. In the past, they have also bought and took over the Buell brand hoping to attract young new riders. The Buell line is more sporty but still can't compete with the Japanese brands in terms of dollar per performance ratio so they killed it.

Many of HD's loyal and faithful members are getting older so they are trying really hard to attract the new generation. In the past, many bought a Harley just for the brand and lifestyle so they didn't care too much about performance or quality. But many of them are dying off and many of the new generation do care about price, performance, looks vs. brand and lifestyle. If HD wants to gain more new members, they'll have to adapt and change but change is hard to come by at MoCo. Took them years and years  just to change some models to liquid cool..

Electric?  So... is it super quiet like most electric cars?

If so.. doesn't that beat the point of it being a HD?  No loud noises?

Correct as displayed in the video below with it's TRON bike sound:
