If it makes you happy and gives you enjoyable fishing experiences, it's worth it!  O0

Once again ICAST has come by and new models of reels have been announced/released.

Whelps no new Chronarch MGL replacement even though there seems to be no manufacturing shipments of current model.  Hmmmm...

However Shimano updated the Curado MGL to the '25 Curado 150M.  A few tinkered updates and it's getting really close to the Chronarch MGL in terms of performance, according to the written specs.  With the addition of their Silent Tune feature, it could be an experience to be had.  From the one Bantam MGL A model that I've used, the Silent Tune feature really makes the reel casting spool spin nearly silent in feel.  Not that I have an inkling to get the new Curado model.

On the Japanese side, they released the new SLX BFS reel.  A few cosmetic changes and an updated 3rd generation MGL spool or something.  Which is technically available on the old Scorpion BFS reel and that was two models older.  :D

I overlooked Shimano spinning reels.  :D

So 2025 new models

Sustain FK - retails $349.99 to $359.99
Nasci FD - retails $109.99 to $129.99
Ultegra FD - retails $159.99 to $179.99

Sustain gets a price increased.  More technical jargon features.  Positioning itself above the Stradic in many ways now.  But, really addressing many of shortcomings that came with the Sustain FE model that just didn't prove it's worth.  Weird as it seemed the FJ model was just released, ah um like just a year or two ago it seemed.

Nasci is the name of that replace the old Symetre reel model.  New color scheme. Price increase.  Added on technical jargon spec.  Ultralight size of 500 coming back.  Great option when compared to the 500 sized Vanford for easily double price.  However the Miravel model positioin just above the Nasci is probably a better value from the paper specs even if comparing the 1000 size just in physical weight alone.

Well the Ultegra was from earlier this year.  Newer technical specs jargon.  New color scheme - well it took on the old color scheme from the Twin Power FD reel.  The Ultegra may be the best reel below the Stradic, but it does fall short of a Stradic no doubt --> if comparing the old one I bought.  Price increased too.  That's becuase a few years back Shimano introduced that Miravel reel just below the Ultegra.

Seems like spinning reels from the Ultregra and below is saturated with choices.

I suppose we can't overlook the new Diawa's spinning offerings

Daiwa Luvias ST Spinning Reel $429.99
Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT Spinning Reel $239.99
Daiwa Prorex MQ LT Spinning Reel $219.99 - $229.99
Daiwa Prorex X LT Spinning Reel $69.99 - $79.99

Luvias.  Always a high end refine Light power spinning reel.  Monocoque body design too, but just without the MQ stamp in the nomenclature.

Ballistic.  Always the Stradic rivalry.  Always better looks.  Always lighter weight in comparison.

Prorex.  Says designed for cold water.  However not actually designed for ice fishing = fail.  Perhaps some real world field trial will prove otherwise.
