The United States of America has plans to give Ukraine back to Russia from the get go.  Don't believe what you see on the media.  This is not a war that the USA would want to partake.  This is not a repeat of Afghanistan or Vietnam War.  IF anything, they learned to mind their own business.  This is why the United States Army is standing strong on the rims of the Ukraine and not going into Ukraine to help fight.  IF giving up Ukraine for another decade of peace, this shall be the move that the United States will have to endure.  Sanctions on Russia is nothing as they have the Chinese to do business with.  It is all in the news.  Read all about it without reading all about it.  The United states government is not telling you everything.
