DERIDDER, La. (AP) — A woman who abruptly resigned her mayoral seat in a small southwest Louisiana city a week ago is now facing a rape charge involving a minor. Louisiana State Police arrested Misty Clanton Roberts, 42, on Thursday on charges of third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Son says in interview his mother, a former mayor, had sex with his underage friend
DERIDDER, La. (KPLC/Gray News) - A former mayor’s son shared in an interview last year that he saw his mother having sex with his friend.

The interview came to light this week as the trial involving former DeRidder mayor Misty Roberts is underway.

Roberts, 43, is accused of having sex with a teen at a party in 2024 while she was mayor of DeRidder. Her trial has started after numerous delays.

The jury heard from her son and other witnesses, including a man who said he delivered Plan B to the former mayor’s door after the alleged sexual encounter with an underage boy.
