Texas Man Arrested After Throwing ‘Several Punches’ at Elderly Poll Worker Who Told Him to Remove Trump Hat
The incident occurred at a polling station in Bexar County on Thursday, Oct. 24, authorities said

A man has been arrested at an early voting site in Texas after reportedly punching an elderly poll worker "several" times when he was asked to remove his political baseball cap.

On Thursday, Oct, 24, at the Johnston Branch Library in Bexar County, a couple entered a polling station and "the man was wearing a hat that supported a political candidate," Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed in a news briefing shared on Facebook on Friday.

The man had taken off the cap to vote, but put it back on before exiting the building, Salazar said.

The suspect was identified as Jesse Lutzenberger in an incident report obtained by PEOPLE. The elderly man wasn't named.

The report also stated the suspect was "wearing a red 'MAGA' [Make America Great Again] or [Donald] 'Trump' baseball cap when the incident took place.

In Friday's briefing, Salazar described the suspect as being a "larger man" in his early 60s, while the victim was "an elderly man, 69 years of age, doing his job," as an early voting clerk.

Commenting on the elderly man telling the suspect he couldn't wear his hat inside after he put it back on, Salazar said, "The early voting clerk then informed him that that was unacceptable, and then began to escort the person out," stating the suspect "appeared to throw an arm back toward the victim."

"The victim seemed to push off of the suspect. At that point, the suspect then turned and threw several punches right at the face of the victim," the sheriff told reporters.

Salazar confirmed the suspect had been "booked for injury to an elderly person," which is a felony charge, stating the elderly victim had "some marks to his face" but nothing too serious.

According to USA Today, ABC News and KSAT-TV, Lutzenberger posted a $30,000 bond and has been released from the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.

Per the National Conference of State Legislatures, Texas is one of 21 states that prohibits "campaign apparel/buttons/stickers/placards" near polling places.

You are such a liar, but that's expected.  ::) That person was right about you. Now that I know exactly who you are, your day will come. It always does. lol

Trump rallies are generally not violent or aggressive, other than when there are leftist protestors or an assassin nearby. You act like you're the only one who goes out to these things.  ::)

As a Californian, you should know just how corrupt Kamala Harris is. Turning a blind eye to support your cult? lol

Polling incident turns physical after Trump voter calls Black election worker ‘F–king b–h’

“To see someone resort to that type of aggression against a room full of women … It’s upsetting,” South Carolina Democratic Party chairwoman Christale Spain told theGrio.

An incident at a polling station in Orangeburg, South Carolina, involving an apparent Trump supporter who berated a group of Black female poll workers on Wednesday resulted in a state investigation.

The incident turned physical during early voting after a white man sporting a pro-Trump cap used expletives when told he could not wear the political paraphernalia. According to WIS News 10, the male voter wore a “Let’s Go Brandon” hat. The coded term is a known anti-President Joe Biden phrase for “F–k Joe Biden.”

When the man was told he could not wear the hat while voting and turned away at the polling station, he is heard calling a Black female poll worker a “f—king b–tch.” He then takes off the hat and points it toward another poll worker, and defiantly shouts, “This is my motherf—king right.”

Political or campaign apparel is barred at polling stations in 21 states, according to Democracy Docket. South Carolina law states that poll managers shall “use every reasonable means to keep the area within five hundred feet of any such entrance clear of political literature and displays.”

The incident in Orangeburg escalated further as the pro-Trump voter told the poll worker to “Shut the hell up and let me vote.” When he is still prevented from voting, he takes the hat off and tosses it to the ground by the feet of a woman recording the interaction.

After he is still refused at the polling desk, he appears to point in the face of another poll worker, also a Black female. The woman strikes the man, who then advances toward her. The poll workers, joined by two white female voters, attempt to retrain the man and remove him from the polling station. The video cuts off before the incident’s conclusion.

Machete-wielding teen arrested after group is accused of intimidating Democratic supporters at Florida polling station, police say

Police arrested an 18-year-old wielding a machete with an 18-inch blade outside a polling station in Florida on Tuesday, saying he was part of a group of teenagers accused of intimidating Democratic supporters.

The teenager, Caleb James Williams, was arrested after 4 p.m. when officers were called to the Beaches Branch Library in Neptune Beach.

Williams was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, accused of brandishing his weapon at two unidentified women, ages 71 and 54, and improper exhibition of a weapon, Neptune Beach police said.

The local Democratic campaign said it was "deeply concerned" about the Tuesday's events, in which, it said, a group of young men waving signs supporting former President Donald Trump confronted a group holding signs promoting Vice President Kamala Harris.

Police Chief Michael J. Key Jr. said at a news conference Tuesday night that officers found seven juveniles and an adult in the library's parking lot.

"The investigation revealed that the group arrived to protest and antagonize the opposing political side," he said.

The group approached opposing sign wavers, and an argument developed between the two sides before Williams "brandished a machete in an aggressive, threatening posture over his head," Key said, adding that the police department has released an image of the moment.

"The group was there for no other reason but for ill intentions, to cause a disturbance, " he said.

Key added that the incident was a clear case of actions going beyond what is allowed by free speech laws.

"This goes way beyond expressing freedom of speech — to say your piece is First Amendment-protected right, but that goes out the window the moment you raise a machete over your head in a threatening manner," he said.

Key said there were no plans to arrest or charge any of the other members of the group, as their actions didn't "cross the criminal threshold," but he stressed that an investigation is ongoing.

Duval County Democratic Party chair Daniel Henry commended the police for a swift response.

He said in a statement: "We are deeply concerned about a violent incident today at the Beaches Library, where a group of young men carrying Trump flags, with one individual armed with a machete, confronted peaceful Harris-Walz sign-wavers exercising their First Amendment rights."

Police have sought to assure people that the polling station and other sites in the county remain safe for voters.

The Duval County GOP did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
