I've heard that N. Dakota lakes are not safe to consumed the fishes there... too much mercury contamination. The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality advises limiting consumption of larger fish from certain lakes and rivers, particularly northern pike, walleye, and largemouth bass, according to the North Dakota Game and Fish guide.

thats pretty much everywhere these days not just north dakota
probably just eat one fish per week
if it a big fish like carp… probably once per month
