If you want to understand the Bible, you need to read all the books and study it and never take a verse out of context.
I know that many anti-Christian will claimed that the Bible is sexist, demeaning women, etc etc but if you really study it. Some of the most important people in the Bible are women... Ruth, Mary (two of them), Debra, Ester, Sarah, Miriam, Rachel, etc etc. If the Bible is truly sexist and demean women, you'll never hear about these women or anything written about them.
It's the same as that one liberal pastor telling her congregation that trans is fine because Jesus's disciple saw him 'trans' form in the garden. Or that some pro-gay Bible experts claimed that the 'gay' of today is different from the gay in the Bible... etc etc
