A ‘pasta-tively terrible plan’: California man swaps $34k in Lego sets with elbow noodles
A California man carried out a scam by purchasing Lego sets, replacing the bricks with uncooked pasta, and returning the altered boxes for refunds, authorities said Thursday. The suspect, Jarrelle Augustine, 28, of Paramount, Calif., faces a grand theft charge after allegedly collecting roughly $34,000 through the scheme, according to the Irvine Police Department’s Facebook post. Retail giant Target reported at least 70 thefts in its stores tied to Augustine.
The police department’s pun-filled post called the crime a “pasta-tively terrible plan” and claimed “like most bad builds, this one didn’t hold together.” IPD said its detectives “snapped into action,” conducted surveillance and identified the suspect. Augustine was taken into custody in Orange County and released the following day, according to arrest records.Police said the returned sets had been filled with bags of Goya elbow pasta in place of the original contents.

Lost a couple of small pieces, email them, they verify my wife's membership and then send it to my wife just like that. I imagine postage cost more than the pieces via Deutsche Post:
