Teaching Assistant Took 'Indecent' Images of Her Students, Then Shared Them with Her 'Perverted' Boyfriend

A teaching assistant from the U.K. who shared indecent images of children with her boyfriend was sentenced to seven years in prison on Thursday, April 24.

Pamela Martin, 44, and her boyfriend Christopher O’Kane, 41, both pleaded guilty in March to three counts of making an indecent image of a child, two counts of distributing an indecent image of a child, possession of an extreme pornographic image and publishing an obscene article.

O'Kane was also sentenced to seven years in prison.

The couple, who learned their fates at Grimsby Crown Court, were also placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Judge Gurdial Singh called the circumstances "chilling," "vile and depraved," Grimsby Live reported.

The case came to light when Humberside Police received information that O’Kane was “communicating online in a way that suggested a sexual interest in children,” Humberside police said in a news release.

O’Kane was arrested on Dec. 10, 2025, and his mobile phone was seized for forensic examination.

“Detectives found messages on O’Kane’s phone, between him and Martin, relating to the sexual abuse of children,” per the release.

Detectives then examined Martin’s electronic devices and discovered indecent images of children as well as indecent sexual communications with her boyfriend.

“Further investigations identified that Martin had taken indecent images of students whilst working as a teaching assistant in South Yorkshire [England] and shared these with O’Kane,” the release states.

She was arrested on Jan. 8, 2026.

Detective Constable Helena Allison called the couple, from S****horpe, “perverted criminals.”

“I hope the sentence given today sends a clear message that we will not tolerate anyone preying on children for their own sick sexual gratification. If you commit child sex offenses, we will do everything in our power to bring you to justice for your crimes," she said, according to the release.

“Martin took advantage of her role in a school to create indecent images of children, at a time when her victims and their families trusted her, as a professional, to look after them. She then further abused this trust by sharing these images with O’Kane, engaging in vile conversation together," she added.

During the sentencing hearing, Martin’s attorney Charlotte Baines said her client was “ashamed of her behavior," according to Grimsby Live.

O'Kane, said his attorney Craig Lowe, was “remorseful, devastated and ashamed of his actions. He has learned his lesson," he said, per the outlet.
