What is your device?

From the looks of that method, all it does is root the phone in a temporary fashion only. So you will also need to nand unlock it and flash a custom recovery to make it persistent over reboots.

Yeah, i'm aware it's only temporary.  i've been researching into it.  I got an Intercept from VM.  this is what I am Currently looking at. only thing is.... i don't know if i Want Squealjoy 2.2. http://www.joshsamuelson.com/?p=264
Still looking around and researching.

You don't need apps2sd unless you're still on 2.1, or you can root your phone and install a 2.2 rom.  2.2 has that built in natively. I go to http://androidforums.com/ for all my android needs. Great site O0

Still at 2.1.  they Say the updates for 2.2 is Coming for Sprint version but they haven't seen it yet so if it comes for srpint then it should come for mine too soo.    I've been to that forums and i also check out SDX and XDA sites also.

even with 2.2 app2sd is still app dependant. try this...
get terminal emulator and enter...
su (enter)
pm setInstallLoca tion 2 (enter) (case sensitive)...exit.

now you may move most app to SD. just don't go crazy.some system app may not work.

Do you have to have the root user privileges to do this?

So finally got the phone rooted with a new rom.  Only thing is my SD card doesn't stay mounted so i can back up the SD card and repartition for APS2SD.

Why is that?
Not sure why yet.  Could be the new rom or because I have been using other charger to charge my phone or my computer.  Gonna play with it some more.

It says sd card unmounted huh?

No..  What  happens is,  When i mount SD card and start transferring files over to pc, , it work for a minute or so then it goes into the state of preparing to unmount sd card and then my pc no longers recognize my phone as usb device.  i tried restarted phone and pc.. no changes.  tried mounted sd card in recovery mode and won't mount.  I did how ever Find a way to back it up with mounting the SD card to PC.  using Android Manager Wifi or something like that.
