It's that time of year.  Let's recap how many different ways people can say....

1.  Motivation.  You need it.  blah blah blah.
2.  Be Creative.  You need it.  blah blah blah blah.
3.  Be humble.  You need it.  blah blah blah blah.
4.  Be Confident.  Chase your dreams.  You need it.  blah blah blah blah.
5.  Be proud of yourself.  You need it.  blah blah blah blah.
6.  Love.  You need it.  blah blah blah blah.
7.  This is the end of one journey, and the start of another.
8.  Never stop learning.
9.  You're the future.
10. You're the best.
11. Make a change in the world.

I don't usually pay attention to the keynote speakers.  Lol.
I was also too hungover to remember what my keynote speaker said.

The Pandering.

1.  Reference the school's alma mater or fight song or motto or something of that nature.  CHEERS!
2.  Your school is awesome, unlike your rival school.  CHEERS!
3.  Reference one (or maybe even a few) popular school locales/events.  CHEERS!
4.  Reference a popular faculty member.  CHEERS!
5.  Reference the sports teams.  CHEERS!

What else should they say?

"There are no jobs out there.  You're out of luck.  You may have had great years while in college but you're leaving with a huge debt that you won't be able to pay off in this lifetime.  You'll have to work odd jobs just to get by for a long time.  Stay with your parents if you can.  Sorry, kids.  That's the sad truth."

LOL, The problem with society today is that we pamper our kids too much.  We need to give themt a little dose of reality. :2funny:

Looking at my book shelf, I realized how many books I have on Steve Jobs.  I've had them for quite a while, but I have only read them fairly recently.  They were all gifts.  This reminded me of Jobs commencement speech in 2005.  I like this speech because I relate to his stories.  Wow, has it really been 10 years?

I agree...  reference pop culture too and you'll ge cheers too...

our Valedictorian gave a pretty good speech...  and I graduated in 2000 and our entire class in the school district was referred to as "Smoke-free 2000".  It was drilled into us since we were in 1st grade but it died off in middle school and everyone forgot about that project...  "Smoke-free 2000".

And just about that time Star Wars was getting rebooted with Episode 1, and the last thing she said was so memorable to me..

...  "Class of Smoke-Free 2000, may the force be with you!!!!" and everyone erupted with cheer and were high fiving each other cause we had all forgotten all about that project...  cause I'm positive not everyone was smoke-free by 2000.
