They will give you an option to buy the car back and cut you a smaller check for the difference for the value of the car.
Example, you get 10k for car. buy back is 2k. They will let you take car and cut you a check for 8k.
That how it works......... my sister Tacoma was estimated 10-13k but buy back was $3500. She took the check and gave the truck to my dad. The damage was something my dad can fixed as he's a mechanic in auto body and transmission. Most Hmong family would do the same to their car and take the check and have my dad repair the damages and save them $$.
I would have done the same because my car was kbb value 5k while repair cost was $3500. I let them repair it because it was too damages.
