I'm a mad scientist by trade so this year, I did an experiment with hydro or growing with just water vs growing in soil. I bought a solar water pump to keep the flow of water going. I am growing tomatoes and strawberries and orka and Carolina ghost pepper reaper or however you call it.
With hydro, I added chemicals that you see in miracles grow but mine is more like organic cuz I added the chemical in the pure form.
At first, the chemical was not the right mixture so the plant grew but then died. I lowered the dosage and found the right combo. It grows faster than the ground for sure.
I just built a greenhouse to see if the added heat and sunlight would make a difference. The outside temp was at 80 degrees the other day but inside my homemade green house, temp reading was at 103. Results? Leaf grew 5x bigger.
Next project.... adding vents. If temp when 80 is 103, when outside temp 100, inside 200? Too hot will burn off the plant.
