i think it's probably because all these boat area and ship company are being put out of business
LESS POLLUTION =MORE FISH
the fishes can actually go back to being fish and thrived

i can't believe the hmong people in wisconsin and minnesota

Finally.

People say today ain't nothin' like years back. Two scoops right by the stream edge and your 5-gallon bucket is full.

We take hours to fill one or two most of the nights.

Lol

That’s what those old white peoples tell me too
I’ve been smelting for years now
And these past couple years is some of the best

Factory near the water are going out of business
Being destroyed
Seeing less ship and boat

Is it the water business or is it the salmons that wiped out the smelts for awhile?

They die on their own, too, even if not netted.

Last week I was at a place and a cop came by. We took a look at some of the smelts that had popped onto shore and died there.

"Those fish are really, really stupid," he said.

I hope we aren't what we eat! lol

Poor fish... didn't get to enjoy another sunrise/sunset..

Is it the water business or is it the salmons that wiped out the smelts for awhile?

Mining
Shipping
Pollution
Chemical
Paper making
Lack of environment regulations
Lots of stuff

When a tourist asked what your State has to offer? There you go.  Give them something that only your state has.

We Cali have abolone, geo duck clams, gruinion run, 15 inches smelt but catch by pole n hook.  We also have halibut and boaters are catching their 25+ lbers just outside of the SF skyline skycraper.
