Ashland?

Yes, ashland
It always produces for us

Thinking about taking the crew up to Wisconsin point
Maybe we will hop over to the Duluth, MN side to check things out
Have a beer together

Have to wait and see
Weather forecast looks rainy

Some of my crew members work 2nd shift
Plus we get tired and just want sleep and clean fish all day next day
Also it’s a long drive, we got crew members coming from Appleton,wi

You already know how these fish work
It is a hit/miss
Timing
Weather too

lol can’t be putting your two week in advance
This year is late

In the past, I'd miss some times. That's because I didn't know how to read the weather and temperatures.

Now I know how. I have not problem going there and catch some each trip. The only problem is the last running night of the season. We never know when they'll end their runs.

I will give you another hint/tips
That you might or might not know

If it’s almost 9-10:30ish.  PM
And you haven’t caught any
They are not running
Go home, try again
Don’t stay till midnight or past

It’s either they run or don’t

Just went to a bay area Chinese grocery and smelt is about 2.99 a lbs.  They had a few pieces on a yellow meat tray for $4.99 already.  And here I thought, you guys be scooping them in by the buckets.

You know my family was a commercial Fisher back in the 80's of the Narleans days.  We would catch whatever that was profitable and when we dock, we sell it all to a cannery nearby for wholesale prices.  They then process it, inflate the prices for cost with fuel for transportation and taxes and you would see them in your local grocery.

I was just a child at the time and was able to get on a few trips.  They would drop a big net and drive like 40mph fast and it would pick up whatever it catches.  We were going for shrimps as that was where the money was at.  If you have a 200k yatch, you go for the bigger money...tuna

My job was the sorter guy.  Small medium large I would separate them shrimps into bins.  All others like fishes, gets thrown back with exception for good meat fishes, we save some for dinner or to bring home to give friends as gifts.  Blue crabs we kept for we gave it to this white guy who owns a house by the river.  In return, we get free parking pass to dock on his property.
