Yes they can.  They have great lungs walk on land and slitters to the other side.

In Narleans, we catches 40+ lbers catfish off the dirty Mississippi.  Bait as big as your forearm.

Only 10 years old, I helped to drag a giant to the car cuz we caught more than enough.  Then once home, threw it all in a giant freezer.  I kid you not, by the next day, it was still breathing.

I have a theory for it.  With the cooler loaded, not enough cold to freeze it.  Even if it freezes, it can come back to life cuz cold just slows down their life vital organs.  They are cold blooded regardless. 

The animal kingdom is a trip.  Even desert frogs goes into hibernation mode in dry azz sand just to come out when they hear dropping of water.  So these African kaydoo be mimicking rain drops just to catch them.
