My first deer kill...was with a knife.
I was feeling sleepy. Deer walked right up to me. My shotgun was well just sitting on ground and safety lock on. Well it was my father's shotgun.
First thing first, I am not familiar with that shotgun. Second, I am familiar with my knife - assassin's killing knife. Why cuz the blade is black and not shiny metal.
I unsnapped the snap. Knife can be un-sheathed and killing blow enacted in one fell stroke.
If you know a killing shot, it's gonna be a killing strike. Else if deer kicks me, I'm gonna be hurting.
Lucky for me, it was a second year buck, just barely spike and nub.
Whooof! Killing strike!
Deer never ran away...It stood up on hind legs and fell over. I was like a ninja, deer never saw it coming. Only after that moment did I feel my heart beat hard powerful adrenaline sourced.
Hunting is never about taking the shot...never. It ain't war...it's hunting. It's all them dirty shots that ruins it for everyone. You main your prey and they be suffering. Or you end up chasing your wounded prey for the whole day...waste of everyone's time and the suffering the prey has to endure.
One clean shot, one clean kill. No chasing, no running, just waiting, and waiting, and waiting to collect. No one even knows you were there. No one even knows you made a kill. It's all clean. No trail. No marks.
