Does your spouse gossip about you? Of course.
« on: May 07, 2021, 06:24:01 AM »
Psychologist and marriage therapist John Duffy says so.

Things your spouse complains to same-sex friends about you and the problems in your relationships are:

1. the lack of sex or connection,
2. the boredom with the everyday,
3. the annoying habits,
4. the tightwad (stinginess), or
5. the overspending habits.--John Duffy, Psychologist (Source: CNN/May 6, 2021)

It's different for Hmong women. It's different among women, too.

The statistics above apply more to White women and White men; the therapist is White. His patients are White.

Oh. They are two words. But the effect is the same. You can't stop the information from spreading to your buddies either way. You complain about your wife to your fishing body and he knows all
about what's at home. That's gossipping.

Complaining and gossiping aren't the same thing.

I know you've missed my statement.

That's misleading. You are not the one gossiping. Someone else is.

Just because they are worded differently about different things doesn't mean they don't have the same effect.

Actually, OMG is a gesture of complaint. And "[M]y husband barely does anything around the house" is a gossip.

Yes, you control it by complaining to one person. If it spreads, you are not the one gossiping- the other person is, and you should probably reconsider your friendship.

Complain= My husband barely does anything around the house. I really wish he would help out more without me having to ask him.

Gossip= OMG. My husband is such a horndog. He wants to have sex ALL the time.

The fact remains that complaining is not the same thing as gossiping.

I'm confused. Are you sure?

Complaining:
I wish my partner would do the dishes more.
I can't do all the work. Coworker X needs to do their share as well.

Gossip:
Did you hear that X is cheating on their partner?
A little birdie told me X is embezzling money from the company.

So, it is because they are worded differently about different things that they will have different effect. One will have a grouch knocking at your door and the other will be a defamation lawsuit.

Yes to all of the above. Got nothing to hide here. Need to gossip and complain. It's what makes us realize how bratty we really are and figure out ways to better the relationship.
