..a couple of months ago...to them offering money and other incentives to folks just to get them to go get their COVID vaccine shots now.. 

When my wife registered for our shots online back in Feb., we couldn't set or get any appointments. Pretty much after the registration is done, they put you on the waiting list and then contact you when there's a spot available for you.

Fast forward to now...doors are wide open but many are refusing to get the shots and not even money and other incentives can convince some..

New York will launch a $5 million "Vax & Scratch" lottery program to incentivize people to get vaccinated.

Maryland announced the state will offer $2 million in lottery cash prizes to encourage residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Kentucky residents will get a shot at a $225,000 prize by getting a COVID-19 shot.

Oregon residents who have at least one dose of a COVID-19 will be eligible to win a $1 million jackpot.

West Virginia to give young people $100 bond to get vaccine.

I understand that there is a 99% survival rate, but I don't want to be the person that catches it and somehow spread it to someone else and he or she dies from it. I also understand that fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus, but the chances of that happening are a lot more rare.

$1 million Ohio vaccine lottery winner was on her way to buy a used car when she found out she won

CINCINNATI — Ohio resident Abbey Bugenske woke up Wednesday wishing for a new car. Before the day ended, she’d have enough money to purchase the most expensive car on the lot.

The 22-year-old woman, who lives in a Cincinnati suburb, is the inaugural winner of the state’s $1 million Vax-a-Million lottery, aimed at increasing the number of people getting Covid-19 vaccination shots.

A proponent of vaccinations, Bugenske had taken the shot before the lottery was announced to protect her friends and relatives.

“Vaccines have always been in my medical history. It was a pretty easy decision to go and get the vaccine as fast as I could,” she said in a press conference Thursday. “I would encourage anyone to get the vaccine. If winning $1 million isn’t enough, I don’t know what would be.”

Bugenske was at the beginning of a four-hour drive to Cleveland and her phone rang. She thought it was a joke.

Indeed, it wasn’t.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine was on the other end, surprising her with news about her new fortune.

Once the announcement was made public, her phone started blowing up and her social media following increased.

“I was screaming enough that my parents thought I was crying and that something was wrong,” she said. “And when I started yelling that I won $1 million and was going to be a millionaire, they told me to calm down and make sure it wasn't a prank.”

The COVID Vaccine Is Free, but Not Everyone Believes That

When Paul Moser considers getting a coronavirus vaccine, he also thinks about his outstanding medical debt: $1,200 from a few urology visits that he has been unable to pay off.

Moser, a 52-year-old gas station cashier in New York state, has friends who were surprised by bills for coronavirus tests and worries the same could happen with the vaccine. For now, he is holding off on getting his shot.

“We were told by the legislators that all the testing was supposed to be free, and then, surprise, it’s $150,” he said. “I agree it’s important to get vaccinated, but I don’t have a sense of urgency around it.”

Congress passed laws barring pharmacies and hospitals from billing patients for coronavirus vaccines. Signs at vaccination sites advertise that the shot is free. From the beginning, health officials and government leaders have told the public it will not cost anything. And there have been few reports of people experiencing charges.

Even so, some unvaccinated adults cite concerns about a surprise bill as a reason for not getting the shot. Many of them are accustomed to a health system in which the bills are frequent, large and often unexpected.

A recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that about a third of unvaccinated adults were unsure whether insurance covered the new vaccine and were concerned they might need to pay for the shot. The concern was especially pronounced among Hispanic and Black survey respondents.

“The conversations we have are like: ‘Yes, I know it’s good. Yes, I want it, but I don’t have insurance,’” said Ilan Shapiro, medical director of AltaMed, a community health network in Southern California that serves a large Hispanic population. “We’re trying to make sure everyone knows it’s free.”

The confusion may represent a lack of information, or skepticism that a bill will not follow a visit to the doctor. Liz Hamel, director of survey research at Kaiser, said it could reflect people’s experience with the health system: “People may have heard it’s available for free, but not believe it.”

oh yeah states can afford it.  It gets big money off their own lottery system and it is moving those funds from one places to the next.  When I play the lottery, I'm thinking about them schools as the funding is going towards it but now it is shifting to a different arena since in house schooling is on a slow.

I got a call from my harrah's casino host just yesterday.  I met her before so I know it is not a scam.  She told me that I won the shared pool of 5 million dollars worth of rewards credit.  10 people gets randomly called and best part is that I do not have to be there to collect my prize either.  So 5 mil divided by 10 is about 500,000 which is about $5 grand worth.  I can eat and dine at their many properties and buy their gift store stuff with the $5 grand.  Talking about memorial day promotion lucky as eff. 

No need to have to pay tax off that $5 grand too since it is not really cash they are paying me but just some rewards points.  You can treat it like cash to buy concert tickets, hotel rooms, food, gift outlets, entries into poker tournaments.
