2 dead in St. Paul murder-suicide while 5 young kids were home: police

ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - Two people were killed in an apparent murder-suicide in St. Paul Tuesday night. Five children were home at the time of the shooting.

Police say they received a call around 9:15 p.m. from a child inside a residence on the 2000 block of California Avenue East saying a man and a woman had been shot dead.

Responding officers found the man, later identified as 33-year-old Yia Xiong, and a 30-year-old woman, identified as Ka Lor, both dead of apparent gunshot wounds. The St. Paul Police Department said the preliminary investigation alleges Xiong had shot and killed Lor and then killed himself, according to Wednesday's press release.

Five children under the age of 10 were in the home at the time of the shooting. They are currently staying with family. Police added Xiong and Lor were parents to all five children and had been in a relationship for approximately 10 years.

Police say no additional suspects are being sought at this time, and there is no known threat to the public.

That's too bad. The earliest case of that nature involving Hmong in America I've heard about was in Stockton, CA in the early 80s...

At least they did not take their kids with them..

Sad stories for all involved.  May them find their solitude and resolution.  Rip to the parents.

My gosh,  considering a big population, a 1 case in how so many of you guys out there is not yet an epidemic.  Still though, there are solutions and avenues to take without having to go this route.

My other hmong boy just told me his wife wants a separation after 27 years of marriage.  This means he married her young and at a high risk of divorce basing it upon the statistics of hmong young marriages.  I'm trying to consoling him to do the right thing and that is to change his behaviors and habits.  She's claiming that he's nagging on her like his old man.  When you are compared to your old man in a bad way, it doesn't end well.  I'll do my best without having dude making some drastic decision.

They often say it’s a crime of passion but me, personally, I’ll never understand. Is it that hard to just let go?

It is time invested.

For this couple, it is just 10 years but 5 kids already involved.  Maybe it is more of a crime of passion.  It may be a crime of finance as well.

infidelity makes people crazy I tell ya
