The layoff has started...
« on: December 12, 2022, 08:54:29 AM »
What's happening in your neck of the woods?

The company that I'm working for just announced a major layoff... shedding half it's hourly labor force by end of Jan. We're talking around 300 people in a town of less than 30,000.

https://www.resumebuilder.com/1-in-3-companies-anticipate-laying-off-30-or-more-of-workforce-in-2023/
According to media reports... about 1 in 3 companies are anticipating a layoff of 30% or more of their workforce in 2023. Start the money printing presses, we're going to need more stimulus payments.

All branches are hiring. Mechanical Engineers and Applications Engineer. Might be industry related but I'm feeling secure.

Salary/professional positions are fine... just the hourly that are affected.

Yeah, we had the same issue this year with finding the necessary labors. However, the forecast for next year isn't good, hence the layoff.

Tens of thousands of professionals getting slashed locally. Wish I get the boot so I can retire to an island.

:2funny: :2funny: :2funny: Me too... We had a new engineer that just put in his two weeks notice. Now, we're down to 3 plus a engineer tech.

Nah, I'm good... Like I said, we had problem finding workers early this year. The company had to increase pay be 20% just to get people  in the door. But now with the forecast of sales 2023 slashed in half, we're downsizing...

Supply chain shortages. Can't get components and raw materials. We all get the sh*t from the same source, China. I understand different industries require different goods but it all eventually leads back to raw materials.

Should've listened to my parents 20+ years ago. The price we pay for being rootless in our 20's.
