I don't care so much for eating guidelines. The bullcat saw an oil bath.
My guideline is avoid meat next to bones and avoid dark mudline meat. Wash your fileted meat well, with salt bath. Cook your fish in hot oil bath.
It's weird but at the moment, the bullcat meat was much better than whitebass meat.
Beats me, I haven't eaten any bullheads since being a little kid. Somehow this fish's meat reminded me of ocean cod.
The 14" bullhead was kind of skinny looking so it wasn't worth weighing it. I guesstimat maybe just over 1 lb. I've caught some that are nearly twice the girth before years ago that would weigh more and close to 3 lbs but didn't have a scale back then.
