Just like Thailand, Vietnam is cheap eats and everything else is cheap.

Think the Average monthly income over there is around $200 USD

In 2020, the average monthly income per capita in Vietnam reached approximately 4.19 million Vietnamese dong, indicating a slight decrease from the previous year. Prior to 2020, the average income per capita had been increasing year on year since 2010.

So 21,000 dong = $1

To be considered rich in vietnam, you need about: $160,000 USD

According to Knight Frank’s report, in order to be included in the 1% richest people in Vietnam, one needs to have assets worth at least US$160,000.

So if you make 80K and your wife makes 80K, you are considered rich in Vietnam.  You make your money in the states and you money laundry that to vietnam.

20,000 dong ($1) per bowl of Pho (Vietnamese soup) to 35000 dong ($1.65) for a plate of rice, any kind of meat and some salad. As for the drinks, you should not pay more than 10.000 dong ($0.50) for Vietnamese iced coffee with milk, commonly known as ca phe sua da. "

Banh Mi (Vietnamese baguette)
Price: 20.000 dong ($1) – 30.000 dong ($1.50).

Yeah, I read that Vietnamese street food is so fast, cheap, and available that food chains like McDonald’s flopped almost instantly after opening up there. Laos is the same when it comes to food.
