Title: What a difference in just couple of months, it was don't call us, we'll call you
Post by: theking on May 22, 2021, 12:37:47 AM
..a couple of months ago...to them offering money and other incentives to folks just to get them to go get their COVID vaccine shots now..  ;D

When my wife registered for our shots online back in Feb., we couldn't set or get any appointments. Pretty much after the registration is done, they put you on the waiting list and then contact you when there's a spot available for you.

Fast forward to now...doors are wide open but many are refusing to get the shots and not even money and other incentives can convince some.. ???

Ohio is offering a $1 million jackpot to five vaccinated adults.

New York will launch a $5 million "Vax & Scratch" lottery program to incentivize people to get vaccinated.

Maryland announced the state will offer $2 million in lottery cash prizes to encourage residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Kentucky residents will get a shot at a $225,000 prize by getting a COVID-19 shot.

Oregon residents who have at least one dose of a COVID-19 will be eligible to win a $1 million jackpot.

West Virginia to give young people $100 bond to get vaccine.

No excuse or reason Americans can't get a shot now ..with plentiful of vaccines available  ???:

"An alarming number of Americans are unvaccinated despite wanting a jab

Though the number of vaccinated Americans continues to rise, there is still a significant amount of the population that has yet to receive their COVID-19 shots.

And while some have no plans of getting vaccinated for various personal or political reasons, others would like to but are having trouble obtaining or making time for a vaccination appointment."

These public figures' words won't help either:

GOP Sen. Rand Paul says he refuses to take the COVID-19 vaccine, claims he already has 'natural immunity'

Lauren Boebert stated there hadn't been a single COVID-19 death in Texas since mask restrictions ended in March. Data shows thousands had, in fact, died.

I wanted to wait a little longer and I finally got my first shot last week. I understand that there is a 99% survival rate, but I don't want to be the person that catches it and somehow spread it to someone else and he or she dies from it. I also understand that fully vaccinated people can still spread the virus, but the chances of that happening are a lot more rare.

People shouldn't be afraid to get vaccinated.  It's more risky to not get one.

Nice  ;D:

$1 million Ohio vaccine lottery winner was on her way to buy a used car when she found out she won

CINCINNATI — Ohio resident Abbey Bugenske woke up Wednesday wishing for a new car. Before the day ended, she’d have enough money to purchase the most expensive car on the lot.

The 22-year-old woman, who lives in a Cincinnati suburb, is the inaugural winner of the state’s $1 million Vax-a-Million lottery, aimed at increasing the number of people getting Covid-19 vaccination shots.

A proponent of vaccinations, Bugenske had taken the shot before the lottery was announced to protect her friends and relatives.

“Vaccines have always been in my medical history. It was a pretty easy decision to go and get the vaccine as fast as I could,” she said in a press conference Thursday. “I would encourage anyone to get the vaccine. If winning $1 million isn’t enough, I don’t know what would be.”

Bugenske was at the beginning of a four-hour drive to Cleveland and her phone rang. She thought it was a joke.

Indeed, it wasn’t.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine was on the other end, surprising her with news about her new fortune.

Once the announcement was made public, her phone started blowing up and her social media following increased.

“I was screaming enough that my parents thought I was crying and that something was wrong,” she said. “And when I started yelling that I won $1 million and was going to be a millionaire, they told me to calm down and make sure it wasn't a prank.”

Man you don't even have to be a legal resident  ;D:

Wealthy Asians flying to the US on organised 'vaccine tourism' trips amid slow rollout at home. ... Around half of US states, including Texas, Arizona, and California, will accept any official form of identification with a photograph to administer a vaccine, regardless of where you legally live.

The COVID Vaccine Is Free, but Not Everyone Believes That

When Paul Moser considers getting a coronavirus vaccine, he also thinks about his outstanding medical debt: $1,200 from a few urology visits that he has been unable to pay off.

Moser, a 52-year-old gas station cashier in New York state, has friends who were surprised by bills for coronavirus tests and worries the same could happen with the vaccine. For now, he is holding off on getting his shot.

“We were told by the legislators that all the testing was supposed to be free, and then, surprise, it’s $150,” he said. “I agree it’s important to get vaccinated, but I don’t have a sense of urgency around it.”

Congress passed laws barring pharmacies and hospitals from billing patients for coronavirus vaccines. Signs at vaccination sites advertise that the shot is free. From the beginning, health officials and government leaders have told the public it will not cost anything. And there have been few reports of people experiencing charges.

Even so, some unvaccinated adults cite concerns about a surprise bill as a reason for not getting the shot. Many of them are accustomed to a health system in which the bills are frequent, large and often unexpected.

A recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that about a third of unvaccinated adults were unsure whether insurance covered the new vaccine and were concerned they might need to pay for the shot. The concern was especially pronounced among Hispanic and Black survey respondents.

“The conversations we have are like: ‘Yes, I know it’s good. Yes, I want it, but I don’t have insurance,’” said Ilan Shapiro, medical director of AltaMed, a community health network in Southern California that serves a large Hispanic population. “We’re trying to make sure everyone knows it’s free.”

The confusion may represent a lack of information, or skepticism that a bill will not follow a visit to the doctor. Liz Hamel, director of survey research at Kaiser, said it could reflect people’s experience with the health system: “People may have heard it’s available for free, but not believe it.”

New Mexico offers largest single vaccination prize in US

New Mexico is betting big that cash can persuade people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, offering the largest single cash prize among the growing number of states staging lotteries to promote inoculations

SANTA FE, N.M. -- New Mexico bet big Tuesday that cash can persuade people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, offering the largest single cash prize among the growing number of states staging lotteries to promote inoculations.

Vaccinated residents who register on New Mexico's “Vax 2 the Max” portal can win prizes from a pool totaling $10 million that includes a $5 million grand prize, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced.

oh yeah states can afford it.  It gets big money off their own lottery system and it is moving those funds from one places to the next.  When I play the lottery, I'm thinking about them schools as the funding is going towards it but now it is shifting to a different arena since in house schooling is on a slow.

i like these surprised mother effer you won raffles.

I got a call from my harrah's casino host just yesterday.  I met her before so I know it is not a scam.  She told me that I won the shared pool of 5 million dollars worth of rewards credit.  10 people gets randomly called and best part is that I do not have to be there to collect my prize either.  So 5 mil divided by 10 is about 500,000 which is about $5 grand worth.  I can eat and dine at their many properties and buy their gift store stuff with the $5 grand.  Talking about memorial day promotion lucky as eff.

No need to have to pay tax off that $5 grand too since it is not really cash they are paying me but just some rewards points.  You can treat it like cash to buy concert tickets, hotel rooms, food, gift outlets, entries into poker tournaments.

cot dayam, feels like a real baller so I can now know what a surprise mother effer,  you won feels like.  :2funny:

Newsom draws first lottery winners in effort to boost California COVID-19 vaccinations

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom stood on a set designed to look like a game show on Friday and drew winners of the first cash prizes in California’s COVID-19 vaccine lottery, part of an effort to boost immunizations that also gives the governor a chance to give away $116.5 million to potential voters before the recall election. “Getting from 30 to 40% of people vaccinated, that’s an easy 10%. Moving from 70% of adults to 75% and beyond, that’s stubborn. That’s difficult work,” Newsom said of the state’s vaccination rate. “We are mindful: Good enough never is, and we’ve got a lot of work to do, and that’s really the spirit that brings us here today and the spirit of the hard work that’s being done every single day all throughout the state of California to get out on the streets, boots on the ground and knock on doors and reach people where they are.” The event was the latest in a series of feel-good announcements from Newsom, whose chances of surviving the recall are tied to the state’s recovery from the pandemic and how voters feel about his leadership when they head to the ballot box. The governor’s “California Comeback Plan” has been buoyed by record tax revenues and the ability to hand out $8 billion in stimulus checks to struggling Californians. The state’s flush coffers have also allowed Newsom to craft a proposed budget that caters to many of the requests from labor unions and interest groups.

Been vaccinated? California wants to give you a dream vacation

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday announced six dream vacation packages as part of the state’s Vax for the Win incentive program in an effort to keep building momentum for vaccination efforts.

Californians 18 and older who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will have a chance to win one of six getaways in the Golden State during a drawing July 1. Eligible Californians are automatically entered in the lottery.

Among the destinations are seeing the Giants play in San Francisco, enjoying a spa in Palm Springs, visiting Disneyland in Anaheim, enjoying floor seats at a Lakers game in Los Angeles and learning how to surf in San Diego.

Packages include hotels, food and entertainment for up to four people. Winners will also receive $2,000 for expenses.

The latest incentives are part of what appears to be the largest inoculation incentive in the nation: the chance for 10 residents to win $1.5 million apiece as well as 30 additional awards of $50,000 each. The $50,000 drawings have already been held; the $1.5-million drawings will take place Tuesday.

Yup, "January" is definitely the time where they say: "Don't call us, we'll call you".. ???:

Rodney and Ekaterina Baker flew to a small Yukon territory community in January to get vaccinated. The couple put locals - including many First Nation members - at risk by not quarantining. They pleaded guilty to breaking public-health rules and were fined US$1,900.
