Title: Alright PH, this will be my last turn
Post by: theking on August 10, 2022, 01:43:33 AM
...because my Taco has well over 200k miles now. But before you turn the rotors make sure it has enough meat to do so. Even if there's enough meat, still gotta considered the amount that will come off when the rotors are turned so do the math and make sure it can still be within specs for safety purposes.. O0:

Man that's a beautiful  O0. But more important than looks are its' functions to make sure you're safe as well as others sharing the same roads.. 8):

You did it yourself or took it in?

I took mine in last time because I don't have the equipment to do it myself. I wasn't going to go out and buy a lathe either.

Yeah, you need to make sure you have enough metal to dissipate the heat from braking otherwise, it's going to warp or crack and it won't be safe for you and others on the road.

Although the functional and safe thickness range for my Taco's OEM rotors is 28-26mm, if I measure it before taking it in like I did in the photo below and it reads 27mm or less, I would rather just get new rotors instead of turning the old ones. Not worth it IMO cause by after resurfacing, the thickness may only be 26.5mm left.

Plus, unlike the old days, new rotors are fairly cheap relatively speaking...eve n OEM ones.

That's why I said, this will be the "last" time...so new rotors the next time around..
