i will be there next month with my wife
in pretty good shape
the goal is to hike down to the bottom and touch the river and than back up

any tips would be appreciated

Depending on where you decide to hike, you may need a permit and those are given out in a lotto format, so it may be too late already. Also hiking down is no joke. It is not a one day hike. Even experience hikers will take at least 2 days, one in and one out. I hiked the South Rim back in 2007 and it was a great experience.

Off the top of my head.

Go in the Spring or Fall, less crowds and cooler weather.
Water, water, and more mater. the Grand Canyon is desert like and water is hard to find. Some trails do have springs but it is not guaranteed.
Dress in layers, temperatures can drop super low at night and go super high during the day.

Have fun.

I should clarify. I don't have access to the vaccine at the moment, even if I wanted to get it. The earliest I will probably have access to it is the end of the summer.

That sucks. I hope she pulls through.  :(

Got it... hopefully your turn at the vaccine will come shortly. OR move to California, we have lots of open appointments here.

Yes, indeed... prayers for your family.

I haven't gotten it yet.

To be honest, I'm not in a big rush to get it yet because I don't know if I really trust that the vaccine was fully tested.

I'll probably get vaccinated by the end of the summer though. We'll see.

It's a very personal decision and I respect yours... However, there are many agency and regulations to safeguard our health in this country.

I'm giving it a few more months since the survival rate for most people is at 99%.

You're correct, for the young and healthy. But I have elderly relatives who are not in very good health  and it's for their welfare that I am also doing this. They are precious to me.

So you're saying Covid is not a hoax anymore? Hmm..

Trump:

Not sure who your comment is pointed towards... but, no I never thought Covid was a hoax.

Trump was an idiot.

I got my shot back in February... because I am considered to be part of the first responder group. Recently, the vaccine requirements for my state was lowered to anyone over 16, as I am sure most states are in now. However, I have a few distance relatives who refuses to get it. I am not sure if they were serious or just joking, I don't joke about stuff like this and they weren't the sort of people I want a debate with, so I did not press them.

Question to the rest of you... honest answers please... are you getting it or have you? If not, why not.

I considered a couple of my ex-girlfriends' "friend". When we broke up years ago, it was a mutual decision to be friends and we continue to be friends. When I say "friends", I mean we still stay in touch from time to time and attend each other family's event and such.

My wife, daughter, and I attended one of my ex-girlfriend's father's 75th birthday about a year ago after receiving an invite. After dating for some time, I also got to know her parents and siblings as she got to know mine so it's all good.
Is your wife aware of the prior relationship?

For the longest time, my ex wife and I did not speak to each other... and if we did, communication was done thru our lawyers. But as the lawyer fees started to piled up, it seem we needed to find a way to be civil with each other.

I just don't know if there will be a day where we will see eye to eye, there's just too many things we differ on. I wouldn't consider my ex my friend, but at least we are on talking terms.

To me, there is a reason for break ups... being a friend meant there's till love between us. For us, whatever love that existed between us in the past, we both killed it.

Are you still friends with your ex... former husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend?? Why and why not?

A measley 3 bed 2 bath 1250 sqft house in LA sold for $800K in 2008.  Now, it is worth $1.8 million.  That's a $1 million equity/gain/profit.  Why don't CA home owners with million dollar equities cash out and sell, and move to cheaper areas?  Maybe even retire?  Are they staying put for their jobs?  I would just quit my job, retire, and find a beach, if my house had $1 million in equity!

Let me see... I purchase my home about 10 years ago, when the housing market crashed for 200k. it is now worth over 3 times my purchased price. Yes, I could sale it and walk away with half a million in my pocket. However, I really can't get into another home in the same area for anything less than 750K. I think that's the dilemma most Californians are in.

As for retirement, and moving away,  most are not ready, they are still young or is still in love with work or is still putting their kids thru college.... or some other factor. In addition, as crazy as it may seem, some really like living in California. They were born here and it's the only way of life they know. It's like being in a toxic relationship, you know you have to get out, but you're so entangled in it that it seems there's comfort in staying.

KV, oh man, where do I begin.

The thirst was real back then. Men and women.

No different than any other social platform in those days; Asian Avenue, ATown, HmongOnline and etc.

Hahahaha... good thing my girl chasing days are over. I would be happy to find someone stable, caring, and mature.

You can say that again.

Once upon a time, this used to be a place where you could meet people and make friends. I made a few friends and eventually our paths diverged. However, the good times and laughs we had are still fond memories.

I literally LOLed at this. I wonder who you used to be now. You must have been a big troll.  :D ;D

I don't think people on here agree to disagree. They just disagree a lot, spam boards, and take over threads with their bickering. It's rather annoying, to be honest. That's just my two cents.

Drama, Sex, and conflict sales... it's true in our society and it's true in here.  When we're hit constantly with such things talking about family values, helping each other or coming together is boring and unappealing.
