probably not this one but i've heard of other large specimen caught in the area, scientist have collected the sperms in hope of keeping it's traits going in the wild.

The Giant Mekong Cat is a toothless herbivore...

the fish looks too clean to be considered a native fish from that muddy river. given the possibility that it may be an actual fish, from the mekong, wouldn't it have distinct features? anyway, there are giant fishes in the mekong. there are also giant freshwater sting-rays, too. and then, there was a case about an 'ore' fish supposedly caught by electric fencing & netting; h/e no scientists were involved, only military personnel. but, for the hmong ppl, it's zaj. if you've not heard of it, it's classified materials. and, I expressively and informally summon an implied consent for a disclaimer on my own behalf to self-represent my case that I even stated what I stated.

That woud be exactly what I would be doing at the Mekong River, fishing!
