‘Tonight, it’s my turn’: Chinese PhD student attacked by 5 men near University of Wisconsin-Madison


A Chinese doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was reportedly assaulted by five young men near the campus, triggering a student protest against anti-Asian hate and violence.

The student, 26, shared his account of the incident on Weibo, which was then also translated and posted on the r/UWMadison subreddit.

The student said he was walking home along University Avenue on Tuesday night when a group of men surrounded him, struck him in the face, shoved him to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked him.

His attackers fled after he screamed for help twice, the victim said. The assault left him with a bleeding ear and multiple “spots” on his head.

The victim said he kept calling for help. A group of witnesses who were partying across the street helped him in the aftermath, followed by what appeared to be a medical student who checked his injuries and made sure he was conscious.

The entire attack lasted no more than 40 seconds, the victim said. He described his assailants as both white and Black men who were all “very well dressed” and “very fit.”

An Expert Explains What's in Sperm and How It's Digested (Because We're All Curious)

It all started in my group chat, as most questions involving semen do. "You guys, what does sperm come out as after being swallowed?" my friend asked one Sunday afternoon, presumably a few hours after her Saturday-night interest left her apartment. And honestly, we were stumped.

While we had previously discussed the pros and cons of swallowing versus spitting, talked at length about our best blowjob technique tips, and even shared our embarrassing oral-sex-position moments, never had we sat down to actually process how sperm is, well, processed.

This was our sticking point: a man's come is not quite the consistency of water, which would obviously come out in the form of pee. But it's also not as thick as food, so it's questionable whether sperm would be digested and excreted the way our meals are - as poop. So how is sperm processed? And if you swallow it, is there any nutritional benefit you'd get from it?

How Does Your Body Process Sperm?

In order to understand how semen is processed, it's important to understand what semen consists of. Daniel Boyer, MD, says that semen is a lot like food, in that it is made up of fluids and essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium, and glucose - "just like your daily food compositions," he confirms. This means that your body processes swallowed semen the same way it does solid food: "Once ingested, [semen will] pass through the normal digestion process that food usually undergoes."

In other words, to answer the big question of whether or not semen comes out as pee or poop, Dr. Boyer confirms it's both. "The body treats semen components just like those contained in normal food substances, and will come out of your body in the form of pee/stool as a byproduct of digestion."

Since Semen Is Digested Like Food, Are There Any Nutritional Benefits to Consuming It?

As we know by now, drinking semen won't exactly help with fertility issues - despite what Kourtney Kardashian says. But when asked if there are any nutritional benefits to swallowing your partner's sperm, Dr. Boyer confirms while there are some, "the nutritional composition of semen is not significant enough to rely on as a source of nutrients for the body."

However, if you're into consuming "a very high amount of semen," Dr. Boyer says semen is filled with essential nutrients and fluids necessary for someone's overall health, including "depressive-antagonizing hormones like serotonin and oxytocin that enhance moods." But this really shouldn't influence your decision to spit or swallow - we're talking about high amounts, here.

My partner says he won't marry me until I lose weight and get a job. Where do I go from here?


My partner and I are in our mid-to-late twenties. We have a four-year-old together and my partner has a good job. I stay at home with our little one to take her to school because he's on a rotating roster where no week is the same, ever.

We've been together six years now, and have talked about getting engaged more recently.

He told me has some prerequisites before he even considers getting engaged: He wants me to work full-time, to start getting my drivers license, and to get fit. (I'm not over weight by any means, I'm actually the opposite and would consider myself skinny.)

Since this conversation happened, I haven't felt happy at all. We've always been quite good together, other than a few tiffs here and there.

I've looked for work, but because I've been out action for so long, nobody wants me. My partner's work schedule doesn't help, nor does school times. I also have a massive fear of being in a car. I'm receiving professional help for this fear, but for now, I walk everywhere and he drives if we need it.

Marriage is a big thing for me, since I consider it the best way to show commitment and love. I feel so lost because my partner wants all of these things. I just don't know. Where do I go from here?

Buc-ee's to build largest location in the nation in Johnstown off Interstate 25

Country store and gas station chain Buc-ee's held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for its first location in Colorado. The Texas-based company is set to begin construction on the new location north of the Denver metro area, in Johnstown, at the southwest corner of Interstate 25 and County Road 48.

The Texas phenomenon that is Buc-ee's will be 74,000 square feet — it will tie with Sevierville, Tennessee, as the largest in the country

May 29—Lobster roll prices are breaking records this season, but the value of Maine lobster meat is only one ingredient in a complex inflationary recipe.

The prices lobstermen are getting at the dock for their catch are down from this time last year, in part because of uncertainty in the global market. Restaurant and lobster shack owners say that while the price of lobster is the biggest factor, there is more that goes into the cost of a roll.

Justin Snyder, dock manager at Beal's Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor, where a 4.5-ounce lobster roll was going for $41.99 on Wednesday, said the price of lobsters on the dock steadily increasing over the past five years has had a big impact on the cost of producing Maine's signature summer dish.

The state's lobster prices reached record highs last year. Maine lobstermen landed 108 million pounds with a record value of $725 million. Southwest Harbor is one of the most competitive harbors in the state where lobstermen can get the highest prices for their catch, Snyder said, but that cost makes up only part of the equation in pricing a lobster roll.
"We're experiencing the same thing that everybody else is experiencing in the U.S. right now," he said. "Everything's more expensive: Plates are more expensive, buns are more expensive, butter is more expensive, labor's more expensive, and the lobster industry is not immune to those economic conditions."

AVERAGE ROLL PRICE TOPS $30

Last week, the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram surveyed 16 lobster shacks and restaurants and found the average price was $30.54 for a roll, though the sizes are not uniform. Individual prices ranged from $15.95 for a traditional 4-ounce roll at the Zack Shack in Thomaston to $47.99 for a jumbo roll with a full pound of lobster meat at Boothbay Lobster Wharf.

Red's Eats, off U.S. Route 1 in Wiscasset, was selling its popular lobster rolls for $31 apiece Wednesday. Deborah Gagnon, one of the owners of the roadside eatery, believes it's worth every penny.
