QFT! Best of all it's a $10 game that hardly anybody plays anymore...Like I said, don't be suprised if it takes Apple to legalize marijuana, among other things. COnsidering it really does take Apple to get people to spend $1700 on a $10 game.

It seems Apple has the magic touch.. mp3 player exists before ipods. smart phone exists before iphone. tablets exists before ipads. portable game device exists before (iphone and ipad).

hmm. I'm speechless. Maybe there's something about the iPad we're not seeing. Do enlighten us though. Seriously. To me and many people in here, it's not about cost. A lot of us can afford one but there are tech toys in this world that need justifying. What can it do?

I can only imagine how many kids would hang around me wanting to get a touch of the iPad and poke at it if I were to get one. I have no use for one at this point either, but who knows? Maybe when tablets are more mainstream, it'll be inevitable to get one. But I still have to see how the market evolves now that Apple's in the market. The last five or so years with tablet PCs hasn't really worked well, but it'll be interesting from here on out.

I'll tell you what it CAN'T do: For a name that constantly draws me to femine hygiene products (come on, it's one syllable short of iTampon), it cannot be used for such a purpose. Furthermore, that name will no longer be available if Kotex wanted to call their new high-tech pads as such.

I think for many most for like it. Others see it as way of wasting money. The iPad isn't meant to replace any laptop nor does it replace the desktop. It simply bridges the gap between the smartphone and laptop. There's so many negative comments in here and yet no has mention that they even played with a iPad yet. Everybody hated the iPod when it first came out, now most everybody has one. Everybody hated the iPhone, now almost everyone has one. Everybody hates the iPad but we'll see in a few months. For many please take the time to play around with the iPad before you make a stereotype comments on it. To me, I know it's not going to replace my laptop. But for what it is, it makes for a great device.

I know. someone owned and used computers for 20 years and still don't know how to save documents to the disk. that's why ipad has no file system.. easier for guys like this.

Completely off topic, but I was on geek forum....and one of the geeks said "hey, post a picture of a hot girl that was taken using an iphone, and I'll tell you where she live." It was crazy. :D People started posting other people's facebook pictures, and the geeks were replying back with google map screenshots of where the GPS tag on the iphone picture said the picture was taken.

it doesnt but it does have a camera (3.0 on iPhone 3GS and 2.0 on others with tap to focus) so u can still take pictures and videos

I have no doubt that your iPad is of great use to you and what you choose to spend with your money is your very own decision. Glad to see that your investment has paid off for you. However, what irks me is the fact that most folks who drink Apple’s kool-aid will not only regurgitate what Apple’s marketing team spew out of their mouth, but also criticize others for not having the same high regards for Apple’s devices. To label someone as a hater for the simple fact that they do not share your opinions or your ambitions for a product is not only inappropriate but also fan boyish. As for your statement about trends of ‘hating’ on Apple’s product prior to launch, only to proven otherwise, is at best wishful thinking and at worse simply delusional. Not sure how you happen to miss all the massive pre-launch hype and media coverage each and every time Apple launches a product. Everyone was not hating. Everyone was hyping.
That aside, I’d just like to say that in my opinion, the iPad is a watered down netbook with no physical keyboard, no USB, (paying extra for an accessory just to give you your basic necessity hardly counts), no media reader (flash memory/CD ROM drive), no camera, a trimmed down mobile OS with no multitasking ability, all encased inside of a thin shiny metal case with a touch screen and your only means of installing applications is via AppStore. Some folks like myself can hardly consider all of that to be a bargain for a price of $499+. I'd much rather invest my money on the upcoming HP Slate.
As for N’Chync’s statement about simplicity, we all know Apple build its customer base around folks who aren’t tech savvy and are easily intimidated by technical jargon. What about the folks who thought they bought the iPad for its simplicity, encountered Wi-Fi problems, and this is Apple’s response: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3304 (covered by http://www.informationweek.com/news/software/operatingsystems/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=224202204). Looks like these folks “simply” have to reconfigure your router to make their iPad’s connection work.

The majority or the consumers isn't going to be techno geeks so they wont care too much for the technical aspects. It just has to work and work for what they need it to do, thats to play games, surf the net, etc etc, simple stuff. For all of that, it'll work easily and thats why it'll be a success. Plus apple's got a big "fan base" anyways so it'll be successfull reguardless.

I'm waiting for the HP Slate as well. If it's as good as it's advertise I'm going to sell the ipad and get one.

so then no club picture, no hanging out later at night/evening pictures etc or anywhere that needs decent lighting

its good enough for a camera phone. expecting anything more is just rediculous. even phones with flash take bad pictures. only a select few have decen cameras like the Samsung Memoir and the HTC HD2 takes good pics too.

Too many people are crazy with apple. Apple could sell horse dung and people would still buy it. Plus didn't someone come out with some other product similiar to the ipad but much better. Can't recall, it was in the news not too long ago.

It is fairly obvious to many here that you are a fan of Apple products and that in itself is fine. After all, we’re all entitled to what we want to use for whatever reason that may be. My biggest concern, however, is the fallacy and selectiveness in which you use to make your point. What do I mean?
Thinking outside the box? By your definition of “thinking outside the box”, it would be equally misleading to draw a conclusion that most folks who own a cell phone also have a camera and a MP3 player therefore do not need such functions on their phones. This would mean the absence of such features on a cell phone, such as the iPhone, would be justifiable given said reasoning. Hypothetically, let’s say Apple bypasses the inclusion of MP3 and camera function on the iPhone. Would you still using your “thinking outside the box” reasoning to justify the lack of MP3 and camera capabilities in an iPhone? I have my doubts.
Also, using the presence of a feature in one device to claim superiority of another device (which lacks that feature) over a competing device (that has such feature, although not the best by any means) is plain silly. Confusing? Just because an iPhone has a better camera than a netbook doesn’t make the iPad’s situation of no camera any better and is completely irrelevant. After all, you are comparing the features of a different device (iPhone/iPhone 3G), which is not used in the comparison, to that of a netbook and with the assumption that the user owns both devices. So one would need two devices (the iPad and the iPhone for its camera to supplement the iPad) in order to best a netbook? Not a very convincing argument. Perhaps I can compare owning a netbook and a DSLR camera to that of the iPad with its lack of a camera to make an equally ridiculous claim.
As for the keyboard you mention, we all know the iPad has no built in USB and that the iPad it requires an additional addon in order to have USB capabilities. I don’t quite see how having to purchase an additional addon in order to get a basic necessity, such as a physical keyboard, can be appealing. It fails to prove that the iPad is on equal footing as a netbook in terms of ease of input, and simply proves that the shortcomings of the iPad must be supplemented by shelling out extra cash for additional accessories.
Your selectiveness in comparing an iPad to other “internet tablets”, in this case the J3400 (which is actually a tablet PC and not an Internet tablet), is appalling. I’m sure there are lots of other devices that would make a far more balanced comparison (perhaps an HP Slate or Dell Streak). Instead, you chose to compare the iPad to a rugged industrial grade tablet to simply make your point that the iPad’s price is somehow reasonable. In your distorted reality, perhaps the iPad can withstand being dropped from 3 feet, water splash resistant, has hot swappable batteries, runs on a Core 2 Duo, as well as having a full blown operating system, just like the J3400. In reality, you are comparing apples to oranges.
I will however agree with you that a comparison of an iPad to a netbook is not entirely accurate. Apple has created a niche device that is hard make a valid comparison to. It is neither a notebook nor a netbook. Quite frankly, in my opinion, it is more like an oversized smart phone stripped of its phone calling capabilities.
