...to see this happened on that exact spot...:

Police recover body near site family intentionally drove off cliff in California

Authorities announced on Saturday they recovered a body near the site where the mothers of six adopted children intentionally drove off a cliff in late March.

The Mendocino Sheriff's Department said in a release it received a call about a body found near Juan Creek and Highway 1 in Westport, California, at about 2 p.m. local time. The sheriff's department identified the body only as an African-American female and said an autopsy would be conducted on Tuesday.

I drove that route from san Jose to san Luis Obispo n beyond to get to little Saigon in Westminster.  Normal trip 6 hours off the 5 to the 408.  That pch 1 took me double digits hours like 10 or 14 I forget.  Got down there, my dad car transmission gave away.  That route goes hard on the automatic transmission with all the acceleration and brakes and what not.

That was 20 years ago.  Heard about people falling off them cliff and mud slides closing that highway and now this suicide case.  The view is nice but the omen is bitter in my mouth.  Unless I have to take it to get to Pismo Beach or closer to home, I'll skip that highway.

Yep, definitely not a good route from the North to the South if one is in a hurry. It's a route reserved for those that have no time limit so they can really enjoy the beautiful views Mother Nature provided including elephant seals and zebras along the way and of course the California condor near Big Sur...I've also done the 1 route but from North Bay (Marin County) down...and yes, it does take a good amount of time. My mid-way rest stop was in San Simeon near Hearst Castle...

Doing it on a bike can provide a breath taking panoramic view but it can also cause some butt pucker moments... ;D:
