Unfortunately, having Hmong people in her position doesn't really improve the Hmong's academic performance or their communities. If anything, having too many Hmong in professional seats only disable the Hmong because they become too reliant on these professionals. There is no longer a need for them to do for themselves when you can have Marny Xiong translate everything for you.

It's been identified that the general American education system has been dumb down. Now that our millennial Hmong generation is here...they are no exception and have fallen down the same system.
Can't expect everyone to become doctors, engineers, and lawyers...not everyone will have such aptitude. Some are just like me. Just happy to work a flipping burger job and it's good enough. It doesn't matter if I can test higher than the school valedictorian. I just don't have that aptitude to complete college or even a vo-tech training.
How is Marny going to fix it? Easy...get really good guidance counselors and very good home room teachers. So easy, yet so hard to do. It's still up to the student. If you got mush for brains, it's only good for mush. Yep...I got mush!

People don't have to believe me. My info came straight from two persons who are related to the family whose house is on Wheelock Parkway in St. Paul. I've been there to drop off some help. When you live in a poor neighborhood, you are living in an area where you have poor schools. When you have poor schools, you have poor teachers. When you have poor teachers, you get a poor education. When you get a poor education, you can only work in a poor-paying job. And that poor-paying job enables you to live again in a poor neighborhood. So, it's a very vicious cycle.
