My pool pump's front housing volute gave up after decades of use as it developed a few slow leak spots so I replaced it with a new one. The part was about 150 bucks and it cost me a couple of hours of my time but saved about 400 bucks over hiring a pro to come out and do the job O0..

Lots of PVC shavings when you do plumbing work on water pipes but the new and old water pipes are working in harmony now O0:
