Alright, so I'm thinking about giving a baitcaster setup a real try this time around. After seeing a guy pull up a 5lber over the weekend with his accurate casting and soft landing using his baitcaster. I've used them before but just wasn't feeling it. I'm not sure how you guys use the common right-hand models but I know I'm gonna want a left-handed setup (similar to my spinning reel), cos I'm use to it this way. I know it limits my selection.

Any suggestions on a starters?

In my opinion the shimano brands are best for the money!  i started off with a first gen shimano citica and now they came out with a smaller model to fit your hand easily...i then upgraded to a shimano curado e series...to me its the easiest real to play with and get the hang of using...i would recommend shimano brands from the citica on up...rod wise is personal preference...  i use a jig on my baitcaster most of the time so...i use a 6'6 medium....30lb braid...

I'm coming up to MN on Friday, June 24 and was wondering if any of you would be willing to take me out bass fishing? Hoping to learn a couple new tricks and how to bass fish from a boat. Let me know. Thanks.

24th is a bad day. That's HBC tournament day and TCHB is on the 25th. I'm sure some MN nice fishermen could take you if they're not fishing that day.

No St. Croix for me, but Elite for the 12th, YES! Good luck to those fishing St. Croix this weekend.

Just my luck. LOL.

Any good lakes to fish from shore? I'll be adventurous.  ;D

Shore fishing: In Minneapolis, try Lake of the Isle, Nokomis Lake and Lake Calhoun. These 3 lakes have very little pressure due to no motorize boats, it holds some nice bass with plenty of shore fishing.

Saint Paul/North St. Paul: Lake De Montreville, Vadnais Lake, White Bear Lake & Keller Lake.

South of the Metro: Holland Lake (Eagan)
