Question for you dropshot anglers out there. I started dropshot using 6lb Seagur then moved up to 8lbs and now thinking about 10lbs. Anybody dropshot with 10lbs on a spinning rod? Hows line management with 10lbs? Just want your feedback before I go out and buy $30 worth of line and then end up giving it away.

I've been using 8# Trilene MAXX mono with good results so far. No break offs, sensative, good knot strength. etc. No complants here.

Why are you thinking of going to 10#?

I don't spool my whole line with Seagur b/c that sh@#t is expensive. I use P-line Flourocarbon coated as my main line, then tie it to a swivel (to eliminate line twist) then apx 25" of Seagur as leader.

Reason for the upgrade is b/c I dropshot right into thick patches of weed sometimes and need to haul fish out fast, also 10# would be more abrasion resistant from their tiny toothy mouths.

6 was too small and only worked in clear open water, 8 has been working fine, haven't lost a fish or setup yet but I'm one of those who is never content, always wondering if there's something better out there.

i'm not into the expensive line stuff so when I drop shot I use only one kind of line.  Trilene XL, I use it up to 10 and 12lbs test.  Very limp line, doesn't hold memory well and very manageable on spinning gear.  I've only lost pike so far.  O0 And its fairly cheap 14 bucks for 1000 yds!  O0

P-line Flourocarbon coated and Trilene XL are about the same price. The Seagur is used as a leader and one spool (200yds) will last for years. Who in their right mind would spool the entire 200yd?

Thanks Blah!
