The iPad is nothing more than a gloried (oversized) ipod touch.  Nothing more really.  It doesn't even have a camera.  To be honest, a lot of us aren't sure who the target market consumer is exactly.  There have been mentions of a 4G network inclusion which would be my only iffy justification for wanting one but tried it out a few weeks ago and it feels funny operating one of those.  That's pretty much the same consensus for a lot tech-saavy people.

I know why it appeals to people, the touchscreen. 

Unconsiously they love being able to interact with the screen.

iPhone already has tons of iPhone friendly sites which will of course will work on the iPad.
