postgresql and users
« on: May 20, 2010, 07:29:49 PM »
Someone asked me to help them set a postgresql server.  I want to be able to create users on the database server that do not exists as a unix user.  Currently, you can only connect to the database server if you are logged in as the user in your unix account and there is a user on the database server with the same name.  Otherwise, there is no go.  I want it to be more relaxed like how Mysql handle users.  I want anyone to be able to connect using only a database user name and password.  I search the web and couldn't find much help.

Any clue?
