Norton Ghost & Spyware software
« on: September 11, 2013, 10:03:50 PM »
What is the latest Norton Ghost? I have v12.

Which Spyware are you using to clean up your computer? I currently do not use any at the moment except what is equipped on my computer.
I could check CNET for free ones, but your recommendation s and experience appreciated.  :) Thanks.

Norton Ghost?  Spyware?  ;D ...they are obsolete.  Are you still running Windows XP?

All you really need is an antivirus.  Any of the free ones like AVG, Antivir, Avast are good enough.  The paid ones are only slightly better in a practical sense.  Whatever you do, DON'T GET McAfee!!  And if your computer came preinstalled with McAfee, DELETE that crap off it.

Norton Ghost is currently at v15.0, if you wanted to try something new, another good computer/disk imaging software is Acronis True Image 2014.

If you already have Antivirus software installed, then for spyware, I suggest you use SpyBot Search & Destroy. It's free for non-commercial use, and currently at version 2.1, just remember to keep your antivirus and spyware software updated.

If you don't have an antivirus yet, a good free solution would be Comodo Internet Security (as fareastlee stated). I use Comodo on all my computers.

Thanks Redemption.  :) Never tried Comodo before - will do research on it.

I use to have Spybot, but it wasn't working for me anymore because of malicious Malwares and Trojans that aren't detectable. Hopefully, Comodo is better at it.
