so this is a thing i do now
« on: June 02, 2014, 07:26:36 AM »
i have late projects to finish and jobs to search for, so logically i would stay up till 5 in the morning....wri ting poems...and not do those two things. :-\

I enjoy poems with rhymes and stories
Of first loves and cherished memories,
Glorious odes of self-expressions,
Victories against depression,
Cringing confessions of unrequited affections,
Queries about soul mates and destinies,
Farewells to those resting peacefully,
And all written in short lines
with cheesy rhymes.

------------------------------

This creature who frequents my nightmares
It is standing, standing right there
It charges at me, with claws and fists
Unlucky for me, as it did not miss,
Its talons pierces my armor, and through the heart
I was doomed from the very start
Wounded was I, unable to leave,
And on my knee I uttered a plea:
Will you marry me?

---------------------------------------------------

Through the window, from the sun, already up high
Sunlight storms my room and burns my thighs
Today is New Year’s, and I must go,
Before the hairline recedes,
And the belly grows
But on this horrid morning, the bed calls for me
To rest on it, ever so peacefully
I apologize, my faithful bed
I must attend New Year’s instead.

Filled with anger, I rise to prepare
Wash the face, comb the hair
Shave the ‘stache, lotion that ash
I take a big breath, and emerge from my door
This man shall stay single no more!

My last trip there left me in tears
So I stayed away, for seventeen years
Only five at the time, I could not understand
Why my balloon would leave my hand
Teary eyed, I whispered good-bye
As the balloon left my side
To watch the thing you love float away
That feeling haunts me to this day

As a grown man, I approach New Year’s gates
I stand before it and hesitate
But beyond those gates may stand my soul mate
I must find her, before it is too late
Before my hairline leaves me
And my belly turns to jelly.
With a heavy heart, I pushed myself in,
Let the adventures now begin…

In a room I sit, silently,
Too far into the night.
A song on replay accompanies me
In the background, as I write
Cheesy rhymes, and feast on leftover cake
All the while, I hesitate to face
What keeps me up so late.
Apparently, right now is the perfect time
For unwanted memories
To creep into my mind

------------------------

He who stumbled upon a degree
Endless anxiety awaits thee
Loan repayments circle the sky
Like vultures, drawn to where the defeated lies
Over his shoulders they wait, patiently

Playtime is over, time to leave home
Enter the world where wickeds roam
Beware, for the vultures circle above, patiently

He who wields a flimsy resume
May he slay the unemployment beast today
Or he could visit PH at 3AM and write
Never again may he rest at night
Good night sleeps are overrated anyways.
