There is a story that celebrates bad situation as good situation. The story of Cinderella is a story of an orphan girl who becomes a great queen someday. The story is built around Cinderella's suffering as an orphan, and what she learned through her years of suffering. When her prince met her, he found her to be everything. Not only was Cinderella beautiful outside, but she was even more beautiful inside that all the animals around her adored her. Within the Hmong archetype story, we too share a story similar to this Cinderella. The story is an orphan boy suffering and rising to become a great leader. Now let's say there is a Hmong greater leader Nhia Doua. If you are Nhia Doua, and you are given two choices:
1) Go back in time and save your parents, and forsake your leadership,
2) Don't go back in time, and be the great leader you are,
Of the two choices, what would you take? Would you swallow the bitter pill of orphanage that transform you as a human being to become great? Or would you reject the bitter pill and live a life receiving much love/hurt from your parents? Not an easy choice.
