Ceramic vs Porcelain Tiles For Basement
« on: July 31, 2019, 05:05:13 PM »
I found a contractor.

I was looking at ceramic tiles but all the guys at the floor stores say I should go with porcelain.

Which would you go with?  Such hard decisions!  I need a partner in crime to help me decide!

Why not hardwood floor? It’s more suited for winter here when it comes to basement. Just my thought.

Neither, it's a basement so I rather leave it at concrete or cover it with vinyl.

Basement porcelain...it's more water resistance...o r less porous.  more expensive, but should last longer and less likely to crack under usage.

How better is porcelain?

Porcelain is denser and harder and less porous.  Ceramic cracks easier than porcelain.  Also, scratches on ceramic are very noticeable compared to scratches on porcelain.

Hardwood in the basement is not a good idea because of potential mold and water issues.  I'll just put area rugs on top of the porcelain tiles.

You can replace them as needed.
