Exactly! The athletes can say the same thing, SORRY I'm not coming in, but they chose to play the game instead.  They get paid with cheers and fame.  To them, that's enough.  Anyone who wants to get paid money to play, can try for the NFL.

I say phuck them. It has nothing to do with education. Year after year they ask for more money but a lot of it gets spent on sports facilities and sports programs. Does nothing for academia and learning...

I agree with the argument on endorsements. Game developer EA was forced to use fake names for their college sports games because college athletes were not getting paid by EA to use their likeness in a game. Other than that, THEY'VE chosen to accept the scholarship in return they have to play. Sorry hmgROCK, nothing is free in Life. It's NOT a free education. They can lose their scholarship due to grades and other reasons, see the link below.

Again, it's not slavery if you enjoy doing it and you volunteer to do it.   The "Big Money" has nothing to do with the fact that the athletes want to play to show off their skills.  You don't get paid to go interview for a job.  Think of this as their interview.

Slavery, gladiators and etc had no say in becoming slaves or gladiators. Slaves were captured. Gladiators were often soldiers of the losing side that were captured or surrendered.

College athletes CHOSE to play to obtain an education. They were not forced into playing (unless you argue that low income families and students have less options for paying for school).

That's quite the distinction.

If theKING earns $200K because he chose to work however hard he does, you have no right to criticize or complain by working less or minimally. Freedom of choice. That's what you need to understand instead of ranting and raving.

Yes, living wage is an issue. Yes, trickle down economics was a pipedream. But accept the fact that you CAN choose a better paying job/career.
