Should college athletes be paid???

Well if they pay them, they will have to pay for

Basketball mens and womens
Soccer, mens and women
Volleyball, mens and women
Waterpolo
Baseball
Softball
Hockey mens and womens
Lacrosse mens and womens
All the sports in track and field
Golf
Badmitton
Ultimate frisbee
Swimming
Diving
Ballet team
Dance team
Chess team
Debate team
Etc etc


Basically, any official school sponsored sport/team

They have not realized the can of worm they opened up.

Then the females will complain about equal pay.
Thenthe other sports will complain they are not getting paid enough

In time it will become normal

And most students are paying to go to school if they are not on a scholarship.

So in theory they are asking to go to the school in the first place and to be in thier programs so to demand to be paid is ridiculous.

Seems like to me a bunch of self entitles kids.

They should be happy to have the opportunity to showcase their skills to have a shot a professional job.

Those kids that transfer to other schools to get more playing time, I am sure they are happy just getting playing time.  They are not going to care how much they get paid or get paid at all.  No student athlete is going to start calculating how much they are getting paid here or there to base thier decision on what school they are going to go to if it is about playing time.

You almost couldn’t find a ticket
They’re were going for $500 a pop

Well still, the thing is college sports is not a professional sport.

When you get paid for playing the sport, it then now becomes a professional sport and they considered pros.

Are we now saying these kids are pros in college?

Some of these college game are bigger

There's a distinction between amateur (college athletes) and professionals.

Compensation being the difference. Pros get compensated, amateurs do not. Once amateurs are paid or get paid, they're no longer amateurs.

No, I don't think they should get pay.  When young people have $$, they're going to slack off on their studies and so you're going to see plenty of athletics w/ money to burn but failing miserably in their academics.  I'd rather they be poor and do well in school   Also, when you struggles financially, you more motivated.
