What does this guy really mean?

I called a bait shop and asked about the time they open on Memorial Day.

"We're open at six," he said. "But we're not here till seven."

Some bait shop, back in the days had an honor system.  The bait is actually accessible outside of the bait shop and you drop money into an honor box.  The owner/operator is not always there during store hours.

Unfortunately with the scumbags of society, it makes it impossible to rely on the trustworthines s of people.

This one doesn't have such a box.

So, I decided not to get there until 8. By then they were both open and have been there.

This shop is 1 hr. 15 mins from any Hmong community. No Hmong runs it.

If it is a bait shop, they open at 6am but will not have fresh bait till 7?

No. The fresh baits are no issue; they don't restock them everyday. No need to.

So, he was telling me they had to bbq. Ok.

oh that's easy....he meant they open normal schedule time 6 a.m, but will not remain open to normal schedule time which is 7 p.m due to it being a holiday. so he was basically saying, they're open on memorial day, but will close early...so they too can go bbq and fishing with their families...hah a
