I did not realized at the time but for my weednamese traditional side, we don't hug or say i luva you to one another. Only the western culture does that. What my folks do is cook for us kids. We do well, they cooked. We helped out fixing stuff around the house as a project of any kind, we get treated with a good meal. So for them elders, it is soul cooking that fits the soul is how they show their love for us. It just that no one said anything and you have to live and learn these stuff. It is only after she passes that I became wiser and understood.
My culture only setback is the PDA or public display of affection as it is a taboo in my culture. Pornography is banned in my country and even personal recording of you and your wife is jail time. I've learned about the western culture through them western asian women that i have been dating. Without them, I would still be traditional like my older folks and irks when someone hugs me. Now I'm loving it because I'll sneak in a cheap thrill hug because I love your boobies against my chest.
