If you're in the market for a vehicle and thinking...
« on: August 31, 2023, 09:08:44 AM »
About domestic (the big three)... you better get them this year.

They are going to skyrocket soon... if the UAW have their way.

The UAW, with the demand for a pay raise of 40%, the union has also called for restoring cost-of-living adjustment pay that ties wages to inflation, medical benefits for retirees, a defined pension for all workers rather than 401(k) plans, increases to retiree pay, more paid time off, providing the right to strike to workers over plant closures, enacting a program to protect and support workers who lose their jobs due to plant shutdowns, and strong job security protections amid a transition to electric vehicle production.

Domestic vehicles (especially trucks and SUV) have increased so much that an average family can't afford them... the Grand Wagoneer is $90K+, average full size pickup are around $60K. Prepare to shell out more cash for the Big Three...

The system will balance herself out. Pay them 40% more and increase them prices of your vehicles so who's buying?  Not I.

Bankruptcy

or Move your plant to cheaper labor countries

Who loses?  Those that wants a pay raise.   I hope they know what they are asking for.

In other news, GM is going to discontinue 3 of their brand vehicles.   Escape, Edge and Transit, to make their factories free to build EV.  Looks like they are getting ready to meet that mandate to make vehicles hitting that 50mpg threshold.

Yep.. and the Union's going after joint venture companies that deal with the auto industries too, especially battery makers.

These fools are comparing their wages to the CEO's wage... it's like comparing an apple to an orange. The CEO make big bucks because it control and run a multi-national company while a hourly worker put screw on the car day in and day out - no skill needed.
