I don't live too far from it. to some people it's a quick 5 minute walk..lols the reason being is that place was never intended to be a casino. It was suppose to be Elk Grove's first Shopping Mall. They started building it, but then plans fell apart and it was a stagnant area for many years until a nearby Indian tribe propose to buy the land and turn it into a casino. That took several more years to get approved..and the casino open a year ago but still in under construction haha..

the layout of the casino is pretty much like a mall..haha even from the outside. But inside it's rather nice. Not too big of a casino. Not too small either. I say give it 20 years and they'll expand and give other local casinos a run for their money. I'll only go play slots there once winter hits and it's pouring rain in the middle of the night..Otherwi se I'll see people I know...almost guarantee...lo ls but yeah...gamblin g is bad...I only bring 100 bucks with me max now...if I can turn it into 300-500...I'll bet big or go home...strictl y for entertainment. ..a lot of people don't believe me...when I say that...but if I was playing for seriousness, I'll be out of there once I make a hundred bucks...lols it's not worth it..it's not like work, where a payday is guarantee...ga mbling is gambling.

Everyone will have their personal view but here is mine. I like sky for it's coziness vibe. Good selection of slots and slot types. If u remember florin mall, that's what some people joke about it as being the new florin mall. Lols. Being in elk Grove, lots of viets, Asians in general. employees are pretty chill, again a lot of Asian employees. A lot of them former thunder valley employees. Lol. Design wise it's ok. Again it was intended to be a mall so it does give off a 90s style shopping mall vibe.haha landscaping outside is decent. Restrooms are nothing elegant like a lot of other casinos I've been. Lols yeah not that it matters much to me, but just something I noticed. Restaurants, I have not tried. They look high end But heard it's not worth the prices. But then this is elk Grove, and sacto and elk grovians are known to be cheapsakes..Lo ls

Another thing I dislike is the bright lightings outside and inside at night. But during the day it's perfect. Not too dark like thunder, day or night. And they don't intentionally blast the music like thunder..haha

Still if I have to choose, I pick thunder over sky, but sky over Jackson..one thing I like about going to a casino is the scenic or somewhat scenic drive. Sky is off the freeway and in a urban area..so no scenic drive. Haha.

Unless you are in driving distance, I say don't go out of your way to swing by it. Wait a few more years and if they expand. But it's taking a lot of customers from thunder for sure. It's pack everyday after 5 pm. Lols

The casino I'm really looking forward to is the new chicken ranch casino set to open next year. Haha looks more like my type of scene.

It took me 1 year after opening for me to enter it.  I only did it because my cousin from mn was in town.  The guy overstayed his vacation so i babysat him for 2 months while he was here these past months.  Sky is only 20 minutes away from where I'm at.  So close, you would of thought I would be their best customers right?  Nope.  I'm not that kind of degenerate gambler.   I have a life too.

However, in elk grove, it is near south sac, the ghetto of the area.  The people that you see going to walmart?  Yep, they are the same sketchy people going to this casino.  It gets even sketchier at night time as it is the only place that opens in the after hours so you have criminals chilling in the parking lot.  No security around to shoo them away either as most of their securities are inside the building.  I had a kaydoo guy asking me if I won when I was walking to my car.  Wrong answer and I'll get rob.

Now inside is pretty big.  Lots of gaming.  There are plenty of food vendors inside too.  Has boba, street taco $0 to $12 for 3 and i ate at their sushi joint.  Reasonable $10 or so for a roll.  Has chinese restrauant and has steak house too.  Lots of people going there because it is much closer of a drive to them.  That casino is doing well as they are planning to build a hotel there.  Lots of parking spaces for expansions.  It also has a bar where you can get yourself a drink like thunder valley has a bar right by the gaming area.  Now your experiences may varies depending if you win or not.  I enjoyed this casino for what it is worth.  On my way home from Reno, I usually stopped by it.  I just got back from vegas this past weekend and will be going to reno this weekend and already booked another reno trip in mid oct. Vegas again in December.   O0

I passed by there twice this year, can’t stand casinos that allow smoking inside. I’m thinking this one is likely like the rest.

yeah, i went to sky a few times at night, and like you, when you have friends/families from out of town/state over, they're gonna asked you to take them there..everyon e is a gambler, we all gamble everyday one way or another..lols it's not always for money..but making a decision and choice is a gamble...lols

anyway, yeah, it's sketchy for sure..but the elk grove PD don't play around. they are probably even more meaner than the sheriffs...lol s
someone's always getting arrested at night at sky river...lols
