Oregon suspended HS graduation requirements through 2028-2029 school year.

Oregon high schoolers will not need to fulfill an essential skills requirement in order to graduate for at least the next five years. Basically, you can fail all your classes and still graduate cause you don't need to show you've the basic knowledge of these skills.

Farley, the assistant superintendent, reminded the board that Oregon has among the highest credit requirements for graduation in the U.S. Only Connecticut requires students to earn more credits in order to graduate. Uh... you could increase the credits for each class and you'll get the highest credits require for graduation. Now, if the credits were 1 for each class, that's a different story.

But proficiency in key subjects measured by state and federal standardized tests has not budged. The higher graduation rate is base on the suspension of graduation requirements started during the pandemic in 2020. You still need to pass the general classes (math, language arts, science, and social studies) before you get your GED degree and it's geared toward adults. Yes, you can get it in less than a week if you can pass the require classes.

However, we're talking about Leftie/Demmie cities giving out HS diploma to students that can't pass these classes.
