Players Evaluation (GOAT TALK)
« on: January 30, 2024, 07:07:26 PM »
How do you consider players to be the best at their position when comparing past and current players?

For example, would you say Eli Manning is better than Dan Marino?

How about LeBron James vs Michael Jordan, if you strictly go by rings, it’s Jordan. But if you consider the list on the bottom there, like James fans would say, James is goat instead of Jordan just base on stats and longevity.

Your thoughts?

1. Success
2. Years played at their position
3. Stats
4. Rings

You don't all anyone can do is share their opinions but there's really no solid evidence to back it up due to all the factors...

For examples, some goes by rings, some goes by skills, some goes by stats, etc.

Many considered Bill Russell to be the GOAT of the NBA mainly due to his 11 rings, many considered MJ due to his skills, stats as well as rings, some considered Wilt Chamberlain because of his dominance, etc.

Same for the NFL, is Trent Dilfer really better/greater than Dan Marino just because he has a ring and Marino doesn't?

Opinions vary...

Although I think my 9ers and Raiders' player, Jerry Rice is the GOAT at WO, I'm sure some will disagree...

Yep, until there's an accurate apple vs. apple comparison, it's just different "perspectives" and opinions...

The dude is scared to fight Pacman during his prime... had to wait until Pac is old to fight him.

I think Jordan is the GOAT... Today's game are not the same, more physical during Jordan's era... If Queen James was playing back then, he'll never score. I mean, the dude flop more than his 3s
