From the Los Angeles Times
MY FAVORITE WEEKEND / TIËSTO
L.A. scene inspires his sound
The Chateau Marmont, Katana, XIV, the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills and the House of Blues are a few of his stops when the DJ's in town from the Netherlands.
By Mark Sachs

May 8, 2009

Tiësto, the internationall y renowned DJ who hails from the Netherlands, has a new album coming, and his many fans have good old L.A. to thank.

"The new album should hopefully be released the second week of September," he said. "It's still a work in progress, that's for sure. The funny thing is, the six weeks I spent in Los Angeles last October and November were probably the biggest inspiration I had in making this new album. I was going out a lot, listening to music, hearing bands play. It pointed me in a new direction."

If you can't wait for the still-unnamed album to drop, Tiësto has back-to-back club dates in Las Vegas this month. He appears at Jet in the Mirage Hotel on May 24, and then the Bank at the Bellagio on May 25.

Meanwhile, here's where you might find him when he's prowling our town.

Love that Chateau

If I'm going to be in Los Angeles for a short period, I really like the Chateau Marmont, especially now that it's been renovated. It's an amazing place, and there's always a lot of interesting people there.

But if I'm going to be in L.A. for an extended time, I'll stay with a couple of great friends who live up from the Chateau Marmont. From there I can see the whole city, and it's a spectacular view.

The dining scene

One of my favorite restaurants is Katana. The food is really good, sushi and a lot more, but I love it because it's just such a great scene, always a lot of beautiful people. It can be a little loud, but in a good way. A lot of music.

If I just want to concentrate on the food, I might go to XIV. Small plates, and you go with about seven friends and everyone orders something different and then shares. It's nice in a different way than Katana.

I always try to make sure that I'm going to be in L.A. on a Sunday, because then I can go to the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills for brunch. It's amazing -- all the food you can imagine and then there's that Sunday feeling. After a late Saturday night, it's the perfect place to go. And you can sit outside if the weather is nice, which it is 95% of the time.

The nightclubber

When I want to hear some music, I always like the artists at the Hotel Cafe. I like singer-songwriters a lot. The House of Blues is terrific. And the club scene is so good, especially in the last couple of years. L.A. used to be so far behind Europe, but now it's actually ahead, not only in music but in fashion. Hyde is probably my favorite club, and I really like My House. I'm going to play there soon with a friend, just for fun. Apple is a very good club too.

California dreaming

I hope to move to L.A. soon. I feel it's the place where I belong. If I do, I want to spend some time by the ocean, because I really haven't been to Santa Monica and Malibu. I'm basically a city person, and I like the night life, with the dinners and the dancing and the music. During the days, I just lie by the pool and rest up for the evening. But I want to see everything once I move here.

Authorities say a big drug bust took nearly $2 million worth of drugs off the streets of Sacramento.

The operation -- involving local and federal authorities, an informant and an alleged drug dealer -- was centered around ecstasy, a popular party drug.

Federal officials say at least 150,000 ecstasy pills were almost sold in Sacramento in one day. The shipment was intercepted by federal agents in Seattle, Washington, as it was on its way to Northern California.

Agents then posed as the supplier and allegedly pretended to seal the deal with Marysville resident Inderjeet Singh Johl.

According to the criminal complaint, Johl was ready to pay the wholesale price of $250,000 for the pills. The street value of the drugs is estimated at $1.8 million.

Experts say ecstasy produces an energized feeling of euphoria and distorts the perception of time.

I think LA will be the best place for Tiesto to reside in out of all the cities in u.s, the clubbing/event/rave are still huge here, and the edm market sky rocketed.  Can't wait to see Tiesto back in Los Angeles, mm09 welcomes Tiesto;)
