^^^ I tink I just saw an auger in the back ground just above the left hand fishes dorsa fin. LOL Dang and you pull it outta a 10 1/4 inch hole. WOW that's skill. I have a hard time reeling up trouts outta my 10 1/4 inch hole.

fly fishing on saturday morning (1/26/13):

really low water this time of year:

low water = hungry fish stuck in shallow pools = stealth mode:

first catch... 16inchish brown.... for size reference, the top mark/line on my rod is 14inches:

16inchish rainbow:

17inchish rainbow....i'm fishing a hardy featherweight rod in 3 weight with 2lb test line and TINY TINY FLIES (size 20 and 22 hook)

Are those monkey face eel? I always wanted to try poke poling for them but looks too scary to try to take off the hook. How they taste? And don't say like chicken.

Yup we poke poled these guys. It's crazy fun, pretty much never skunk. They aren't as creepy as true eels like morey eels. Just like long fish. Tastes very similar to catfish IMO.

Is that a rock fish next to the eels, heard they have a white delicate meat. Not to fond of eels and yes they do very much taste like catfish but without the dirty muddy stank. We hooked into quite a bunch of those fish off the pier on bodega bay up north one time, but never really cooked any, j/c what they taste like.
